are you on about flushing it first though?

i took the top hose off the rad and flushed it with clean water untill it ran clear, then took the bottom hose off the thermostat housing and flushed that untill it ran clear. then just top it up to the level and run it with the cap off and the heaters on. check the level after about 10 minutes

How do you bleed the cooling system on a 1.2 16v engine?
