i just saw alot of people online and not saying much, people who i've seen post alot of helpful answers in the past.

its quite urgent so was trying to get some answers cos stuff i've been reading everywhere is all different.

Appreciate the replies just wanted as many as i could to sort out the true from the false.

Going to be putting alot more time and effort into the engine so wanted a good starting point is all :)

God.
It sounds like your on about the lower inlet, Yes the ports are different on that, Just swap it for a X14/X16 one or whatever.

If the head is XEL, Its the best shaped port design, If its a x14 or x16 one and its got nothing wrong, waste of time changing it imo.

Bottom end is identical to a X16XE. Std cams will be fine, I ran x16xe cams in a x14xe, It really isn't enough to worry about.

Gearbox depends on the car it came from, There isnt a simple "best" one as it depends on what you want.

Now then, Give people chance to reply before bummping it to hell.

I'm pretty sure ur x16xe parts will fit the xel block without any problems.

As far as ive always been aware, the XEL engines just had different inlet manifolds to give a bit more torque at the expense of a few hp (and thus were fitted to slightly heavier cars like the astra/vectra)

Sensors are all the same as previously mentioned, so you can use your current management. Gearbox too as far as i'm aware.

Like the dude said, dont worry

what are my options? block says x16xel, piston rings are going on my x16xe block so wanted to use this engine but now not sure.
the head is not the later x16xel with better triangle ports it the same as my old x14 head so smaller worse ports of all. i think my x16xe head is ok although have a misfire problem which hopefully wont be carried over if i swap that head onto xel block.
Just been told allsorts about cams hitting unpocketed pistons etc i want to be sure what i'm doing and what will fit

the inlet ports look different and smaller from the x14xe and x16xe so less power so wanted to see if i could use my x16xe head on the x16xel block that i got sold
ive just read alot of different things and some having triangular ports etc which are better but this one doesn't

lol, x14xe/x16xe heads are the same, the cams have a 0.5mm change in lift, fit the x16xe ones without issue.

Block is identical, x14 and x16 have all the same sensors, just use your x16 ecu.

Your worrying too much, its nowt to worry about lol

x16xel engine replacing x16xe engine. i was sold this engine on here being told it was x16xe it has x16xel block with the x14xe type head, what should i do?

I'm after as much real info on what is the same from this and the x16xe as i dont want to use this x14xe type head with the x14xe cams etc.

Is the block the same as x16xe? or are there any differences at all? Especially if i need to buy parts. Espacially if modifying it.

I read cams if swapping over my x16xe head may hit the pistons?

are any sensors different?
or are all x14xe sensors the same too as i have some spares from an old x14xe i had. plus some x16xe sensors.

Will my x16xe ecu and loom work with it so i can just leave all that as it is?

Just any information people have would really be appreciated as to what i should do :boggle::(
