So if i keep everything the same ECU, head etc and just put x16xe cams in and change the lower manifold it should be perfect? Ive read a million different stories of what needs changing - ECU, cams, head, manifolds, pistons etc. Will the clearance on the pistons be ok with xe cams?

As said, you actually have a better head than a x16xe, Put x16xe cams in it and you will have a good engine.

cant you just use a x16xe bottom inlet?? if it is as you say 1.4 head on 1.6 bottom end then should just be the case of using the bottom half of a x14xe or x16xe inlet

Right well basically ive been a bit of a dosy badger and only just bothered to check my engine code. I was sold the car and was told it had an X16XE in it. The inlet was different but i was told it was from an astra and just provided more torque. So i thought great its about the same power as a GSI just with more torque. Well i ordered a powerbox and ive come to fit it today and nothing seemed to match up right or make sense so i thought i best check the engine code just incase. I now find out its an X16XEL and is only 98bhp as standard. So im pretty miffed to be honest but i can only make do and improve so how can i change my X16XEL to a X16XE so i can fit my powerbox? Ive read that its basically a 1.4 head on a 1.6 bottom end. So do i need to change the head to an X16XE head? What else would i need to change/do? Any help would be great as ive now got a powerbox that wont fit and what i was told was a GSI corsa with astra inlet thats now basically a vectra b engined corsa. My own fault i supose  |
