Oil filler, not filter;)

lol, that's what I thought too.

oil doesn't piss out my filler cap and i know there's enough oil in there but as soon as i take the cam cover off there's plenty of oil under there jumping about.

If he can hear tapping from the engine, then you KNOW the pump isn't working right...or there isn't sufficient oil in the system.

Take the cam cover off, oil will "spit" out if it's working (don't wear nice clothes because it really does spit out, if oil is spitting out, then turn the engine off before you paint your street black). then top up oil?

and check your dipstick often you dipstick

All the clues are in the light, tsk.

Firstly you need to establish how much oil you have in the engine. If its under, fill it to the correct amount. If its over, slap your self for being stupid and drain some out to the correct level.

If your oil is fine then pop a new switch in it, about a tenner from your local factors. If that doesn't help then you might wanna be looking into a new oil pump.

How often do you change your oil?

Maybe its so damn thick that it cant move about. Maybe a flush through might help.

low oil WILL cause low pressure though... so it has a lot to do with oil leval.

btw. plus don't put too much oil in it trying to make the light go off, as this can cause damage too!

My light kept coming on last weekend, staying on for abit then going off.

It's nothing to do with oil levels. I read the Haynes and it's a drop in oil pressure. Could either be the oil pressure switch, or the oil pump.

The oil switch cost me £8 from a local car spares shop, it was fine after this. The old one was kinda 'coked' up.

I was glad it was the switch as I'm under the impression that the oil pump would be a big job! Switch took two minutes to swap over.

On a 16v The switch is on the back of the engine under the alternator.

Check switch and go from there. Affraid I cant help as to where it is or how to do it. Haynes manuel should help.

1.4 8v?

As said in your other thread no one can give you an answer over the internet.

If the oil pump is packing up no dont drive it. If its just the switch to the light it will be fine. But no one will know which.

Personally I would play it safe and not drive it until i knew :)
