all early ones werent coscast heads i dont think. i dont like the heads anyway.

wether one is faster than other can depend on how its been looked after, milage, gearbox, etc etc, not just laters better because it wil have less miles, or better because on leaner emission laws, just way engines been looked after imo.

i just prefer the belt set-up and crank found in them

Early ones are the best to go for.

Have driven both early and late versions. The late ones just seem so slow compared to the early's.

Earlier have a light weight flywheel too??

early xe's were ment to have 156bhp iirc later c20xes had 147bhp, but thats due to emission controls.

i prefer the early motors from a builders side because the early cranks are stronger and lighter than later and the cambelt set-up is alot easier and use metal rollers. where as the later use plastic rollers....which can be changed for metal from likes of SBD.

in all honesty, the one with less miles is probably the right answer.

although early early non lambda sensor xe's seemed less likely to have sensor issues as they just were not that complicated

Im getting a c20xe for my corsa and wondered which is the best one to go for the early or the late.?
Also what is the difference between them! is there any difference in bhp and torqe?

Cheers.. Matt
