Chris read what i said above. Be wary that it might be condensation.

i had my head gasket go, 1.4 sport. cost just under £300.
CAT has gone twice :(
Radiator got a hole in it, had it replaced.
Oil Pump gasket leaked, small part, lots of labour :(
Thermostat broke £64 for part
electric window switch has broke, vaux want £60 :! told em were to stick it.
Central locking is nackered, boot lock don't bare thinking about.

All in all, a fair bit has broke, i spent about half of what the car cost, fixing it.

i'v had oil coming outta the seals and gaskets on my 94 1.4L spi and i has sludge under the oil cap i'm i dont think the gasket has gone but i went out and got myself a 400ml bottle of redex stop leak for £3.60, it could just be a simple case of buying some of this instead of slashing out 100's to fix ur gasket

How are you sure its your head gasket thats blown? What are the symptoms? I thought my head gasket had blown but it turns out to be severe condensation.

Aye, D4's head gasket went. Commen on 16v engines, esp the 1400 Sport lumps.

Will cost around £200-£300 to replair. Make sure you have the head skimmed or you will end up with another blown gasket a few months down the line!
