Took the box off today and the clutch looks pretty much brand new so that gets rid of that problem, no need to replace...

Counted the teeth on the old timing belt so I know which belt I need now too :)

Is it a dis pack or dizzy engine ellis? If its defo a 93 then it should have a pot type flywheel and be the square type toothed pully, t-belt kit

It would appear my thread has gone mental over night

So the money is on it being a pot type clutch?

I have the fun of counting the teeth on the timing belt this afternoon :)

So, see if the box has or doesn't have the inspection cover for the clutch - would that give away what type the clutch is?

No they all have it, you will need the box off to check what fly whell it is

Comming from a 1993 calibra though it will be the pot type one like mine

can see the flywheel with the cover plate off so why drop the whole box?

yeah take it off and have a look. will easily be able to see what flywheel it has as its common for people to change them. look at your cam pulley to determend what tooth setup you have

yes. near the dipstick parelel to the gearbox bell housing. mgt be cover in grime but its on a flat suface in a straight line. will most probibly start with c20xe or 20xe

Cheers, where is the engine code on the block? Gearbox end?

Ben ev

posted on 27th Nov 08 at 21:09

look at the engine number on the block. if its lower than the 1st code then its that, if its greater than the second then its the second. i assume from those numbers that engine c20xe14128448 was the last one with round tooth pulley setup. engine could have been changed to either in the past though especially the flywheel from pot to flat so worth just checking yourself tbh

It says the timing belt varies on the amount of teeth on the belt from my research...would that be right?
