its a standard x14xe engine atm, just looking into what or where i can upgrade it without going upto a 1.6 because of insurance prices pretty much, looking to get more torque and acceleration

The bottom end of the x16xe, c16xe and x16xel are all the same 1.6 block.

The difference is in the cylinder head and inlet manifolds. X16xe and C16xe had bigger ports in the cylinder head and would be better for power then the x14xe and x16xel head (which are the same iirc) and have smaller ports.

Although the benifits of fitting an x16xe head onto a x14xe will be very minor imo.

Whats the spec on your 1.4 at the moment?

what isthe compatibilites between the x14xe, x16xe and the x16xel engines? are parts compatible between them and if added from the bigger engines to a x14xe would it give any power gains? or just go for aftermarket parts?
