Came back from dealers today, still no joy, they havent a clue whats wrong, they have reset the BCM, tried a new BCM, Tried a new ECU, all with no joy. They now think it may be a loose or broken wire somewhere

I had this once on a vectra and couldnt get to the bottom of the problem.

we disconnected the battery as we were changing it anyway for the customer and when we reconnected the new one a few hours later problem had gone.

disconnecting the battery overnight is worth a try, its amazing how often it sorts out problems on a wide variety of vehicles.

If that doesnt solve it disconnect the ecu and transponder plugs, check them over and re-connect. could be as simple as a loose connection. also check those earths that were loose again.

dont have a spare key :(
im sure diagnostic said it wasnt picking up signal from chip. Could it just need reprogramming???? how could it just all of a sudden loose the program though??? could it possibly have screwed the ECU when the earth was shorting????

check the transponder is plugged in properly and that the chip is in the key.

try a spare key if you have one and check all of your fuses are ok.

I have found the solution to my previous problem http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=416386 however it has lead to another!!

The problem was there is a bracket on left side of engine with 2 earth wires from the ECU attatched, this bracket had become loose, so the car had a bad earth.

The original problem went away, but now the car wont start at all, it is juts cranking over with no attempt to fire, and the spanner light is just constantly flashing all the time.

Dignostic is saying something about transponder fault, but how can this have happened just by tightening a bracket???? and aslo how can I fix it??
