Well, thanks for that. One of the pictures shows exactly what I am looking for.

At least I can go to the parts dept and say "I want one of them".

I am presuming that it is some sort of a filter but I still don't know what part this thing plays in the engine function or why both ends were disconnected.

Much appreciate your interst and the effort made in finding that site.

Thanks

Thanks for your response.

The “Secondary Air Injection Switchover Valve” is situated below this solenoid and the pipes are connected, , as far as I am aware, to The “Secondary Air Injection Unit” (see photo 1 above: it is the tube with the white "donut" thing).

I would just love to see a photo of that unit with all pipes in place so I can see how it is connected.

I am adding two more pictures in the hope that somebody can recognise this further.

The first picture is this thing from another angle with the green tube removed from the top conncection nipple.

The second picture shows the L shaped tube coming out of the bottom of what I think is a solenoid. The yellow tube should be attached to this but I am sure that there should be "something" in the middle that is missing. I need to know what this. Can anybody help PLEASE!!!!

Hi folks,

I am hoping that somebody can help me with this problem as you are into this type of vehicle.

Firstly I'd like to know what this is, what it is for and what does it do?

The reason I am asking is that this is my son's car and he discovered that in the engine compartment is a yellow tube that is disconnected at both ends. I don’t know if this has happened recently or has been caused by the garage during the last service, but it has never been mentioned before.

The device is situated above the “Secondary Air Injection Switchover Valve” and to the left of the bonnet alarm switch. It is mounted on a bracket attached to the suspension strut. It is on the right hand side of the engine compartment (looking from the front of the car).

I have figured out that one end of the yellow tube should be attached to a connection nipple, which has broken off, on the brake servo check valve.

As you can see in the first picture the other end of the tube hangs by this device but I cannot see where to connect it. A green tube goes from the device back towards the rear centre of the engine bay and disappears down the back of the exhaust manifold.

On the picture, if you look just to the left of the green tube, there is a rubber L shaped connection tube but that appears to be blocked and goes nowhere.

I have tried to enlarge this; it is the tube with the red arrow.

I am sure that there should be "something" between the yellow tube and the L shaped tube, but what?

From the same brake servo check valve is another connection nipple from whence a black tube to the “Secondary Air Injection Switchover Valve” runs.

The car is a Vx Corsa Sport, 1.4 XE, 16 valve, X Reg (2000)

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Regards

Old Codger.
