quote: No thats just a speedo driven gear nothing to do with vss. As stated the vss is electrical not mechanical. It either screws onto the top of the gearbox on cars with electronic speedo. or It is part of the clocks on a car with cable driven speedo! yes but on a cable driven setup, the ecu recieves the signal from the dials themselves, being cable driven & all... so if the speedo itself is working, its still the dials which will be the cause of the fault. I was getting VSS on the gsi some time back, just replaced the dials, fixed.

Since i bought this car it has had code 24 and its cuts out at junctions. I have spent hours looking at wiring diagrams trying to work out what was wrong.

quote: 90375764 is the VSS, its a plastic driven gear that sits in the gearbox either drives a cable or goes into a transducer and wire. [Edited on 20-07-2007 by Superlite Ltd.]

1993 will have the VSS in the clocks, not the gearbox. the VSS is a common reason for the engine to die at junctions etc...

ok cool. cheers. ive got the problem a few people seem to have. driving along fine for say 10 minutes, then engine management light comes on, and when putting the clutch in the revs drop very low, almost stalling, and stalling every so often. possibly crankshaft sensor? i have a 1993 1.4 8v sri c14se rngine, any ideas???

unless your speedo is wobbling at speeds, its not the linkage...
