if you are using the wiper stalk to open the boot, yes the ignition would need to be on for you to open it, however if you use the wiring for the rear wiper motor and connect one end to your solenoid and the other end to a switch connected to a permanent live, then no, the ignition does not need to be on to open the boot.

I used an ebay solenoid and wired it to the wiring from the rear wiper motor, as that was gone after semi smooth boot, and soldered it to a relay from my clifford alarm, so mine opens from my alarm fob.

What you need:

Central locking motor 2cable version
That switch
fuse wire & connectors

could swap the wires from the rear wiper stalk onto that switch and save hours of running wires through the car when its already done for you :D

i had a thinking session and decided a button wherre i thought before might look gay :o so.............

http://www.corsacentre.com/Nova%20corsa%20vauxhall%20parts/Detail.asp?PID=2701&CatID=33&CarID=20

this is what venom offers -
£20

If i were to get that one from venom for £20 then i could just swap the switch for the one i want (pictured above) couldnt i :boggle:

the other choise would be a kit from a shop like venommotorsport etc

then you can have it anywhere you like ?

cool, thanks for that stavs :) problem is catching it accidentally :o  hence wanting a button where i indicated it above.

although i do realise that using the wiper stalk would cut out alot of wiring work etc...

i will try and explain how mine works mark

on the wiper stalks you push the left stalk forward to use the rear wiper yeah ?

ok so if the rear wiper is gone than this can act as an allready wired part of the release

i used a audi boot popper as the audi's have the botton inside to open the boot

wire them together and wallop your boot opens...

btw try not to push it forward when driving else the boot might fly open

Im just needing some help/advice on boot poppers for use on a semi-smooth boot.

People who have done this, what popper did you use? - links?

Also is it possible to wire the popper up to a button like this and locate it in the door sill -

(MattyG's original pic)

also what would i need to wire i up to in order for it to work?

thanks for any help
