must be the clocks then because i can see the cable moving whilst driving the car | |

its got to be the cable / sender or clocks then. without the clocks working the vss wont give the ecu a speed signal | |

it will cause it to cut out as the cars ecu tells the icv (idle control valve) when to open and close when you dip the clutch when you pull up at a junction etc (let the revs die basicly). the ecu uses a signal that is sent by the vss (vehicle speed senser) to determine vehicle speed vs engine speed to tell the icv how far and how long to open for. the vss generates its signal in the back of the clocks. its driven via the speedo cable. no vss= no signal to the icv= no air on idle= car cuts out | |
