Could be, might just need a clean out as they can get a bit oily. Your best bet is to get a Vauxhall test done on it rather than a garage one as the garage only gives you fault codes.

thanks ed, so i guess the air flow meter should be changed. the car has done 37000 miles - does it seem right?

It wont be the CPS. When they fail, the engine will stop working all together. Or it will work until it gets hot and cuts out.

UPDATE: I disconnected the wiring to the Air Flow Meter, the car performed a lot better.

quote: a faulty crank sensor bracket (usually a snapped one) will make the car judder very badly, as will the crank sensor if its in the wrong position in relation to the crank pulley

Oh and vaux-tech, i will check the air flow meter pronto tomorrow. is it a good idea to have the car running with it disconnected, to see any difference?

get the tech2 on it and check the datalist display when the car is idling, get a vx mechanic to check the readings of coolant temp, egr valve readings, mass air flow reading and check the readings on the oxygen sensors too! hope this helps

faulty crank sensor wouldnt make the car judder, however a knackered mass air flow meter would decrease power and possibly make it missfire too (although the 1.0 litres missfire on idle anyway!!) does it rev past 3-3500rpm? if it doesnt, my advice is that the air flow meter is fooked. common as a priest shitting in the woods

checked coolant level? any present codes? a faulty cranksensor could make the car judder, but normaly the car just cuts out
