Well weird as my old 2l 16v GLS had both 4 stud and 288mm discs. LOL, fook it!

Vauxhall never did a 288 4stud,

believe us we spent hours looking through the catalogue for all parts saab, vauxhall and otherwise. There is a set for the MK1 elise, but the hub is a complutely different shape and doesnt fit.

the 288mm 4 studs are fitted to the Elise IIRC

Already had a 2l 16v veccy before and it was 4 stud with 288mm discs on ;)

Looks like facelift ones are still fetching a bit of money so it might have to be a earlier Corsa.

You need an MPi fuel pump though too don't you (if the car isn't MPi)?

Thanks for the help everyone. I've had a Corsa GSi before and really liked it, but then went on to Vectras. Had a 2l 16v (as mentioned above) and then just sold a V6 SuperTouring. Quite fancy doing an XEV Corsa for the crack really, keep me occupied over winter :)

the vec will be 5 stud but i think it will still be the 256mm brakes so you can order them in 4 stud!

ainsley makes some good points. you will have to check the brakes on the vec, make sure they are not 5 stud, because you will need them too! all standard Corsa brakes are shocking, even the GSi ones. but you could always just fit some ATE calipers from the Astra GTE for example. not expensive.

It wont be f20 it will be f18 in that vectra, personally i would look for an f20 and dump the f18 (might have to if its hydraulic anyway)

Corsawise i would try and start with an 8valve or a 1.4 16v or 1.6.

Slightly easier to wire than the 1.0 1nd 1.2 16v and also if you use a 1.0l you will have to replace the clocks!

Plus using a 1.4 or 1.6 16v you can at least sell the engine on!

I was just going to buy a base model corsa (no sunroof etc) and stick the block in that. Not sure whether it'd be a early spec (non-PAS/ABS etc) or a later spec (like a 1l 12v with pas & ABS), just depends on what comes up in what colours etc. What would you recommend Corsa wise?

The donor car will be a '96/'97 Vectra SRi 2l 16v Eco with F20 (?) box etc. So I can use most bits off that.

I've just been in touch with somone about strengthening kit. The ball is rolling already :)

sounds like a good plan. the XEV is a good solid unit, and shares many common attributes with the C20XE. although only 136bhp, they are very tunable and have good torque from down low, perfect for a lightweight Corsa. Also its easy to find good mileage items going for not much money at all!
As far as a donor car, anything like Vectra's will be very cheap, especially ex-rep mobiles. just make sure the mileage isnt too astronomical, and try and afford to get it rebuilt before putting in the Corsa. fitting kit, although on the pricey side, the m-tech stuff is rather good. Strengthening kit, i would really bother too much, someone off here can supply some strengthening plates for the front end for abour £35 for 5mm stuff.
out of curiosity, what is the Corsa? Sport? GSi?

I'm just about to take on a new project and have decided to build a X20XEV Corsa B. I've only seen a couple about, so thought it would be a bit different to the usual C20XE conversion.

Just a few questions tho...

I've seen a pic of a car thats kept the ABS, is this easy to do (as the donor car has it too, so presumably I can use Corsa abs unit etc).

Any tips for using PAS in the Corsa? Is it easier to buy a Corsa with it already, then just use an M-Tec kit with original pump etc (or should I use XEV pump)?

What do you do about the transponder key and immobiliser? Will I have to use those kits off the donor car (Vectra B) as the engine loom will have that with it?

Any ball aches that people can save me from finding out on my own?! :lol:

I was going to put the block (from a early Vec SRi) along with the donor cars gearbox (F20?) in a 3dr, non-sunroof, facelift Corsa B. Just I recon it'll be easier to find a mint one than a pre-facelift. Any opinions on that?

So basically: Donor Car (complete to make sure I have all parts needed), Corsa to stick engine and g'box in to, and full M-Tec fitting kit (and strengthening kit) should do it?
