So I'd change just discs? What about calipers (just painted mine red ) Really tempted to do it but warranty issue keeps niggling :(

pads are the same ;)

discs are bigger though :o

just make sure you get the brakes done elsewhere

Yeh thats why I'm just looking at SRi gear. I know there is aftermarket stuff available - but thats obvious! And brakes are fairly major thing to change  Only problem will be on servicing - if they change brake pads etc, they will order 1.2 ones :o

if you use vauxhall parts, they might not notice. ;)

Yeh I got ABS - my cars only a 2005 plate so I have kinda gotta be careful how much I fiddle with, as I have 2 years of warranty left :|

I will definitely be looking into 1.8 fronts though :)

rear discs on the 1.8 can be noisy, they dont like it when you reverse and brake, they make a wierd noise sometimes

has your car got ABS? i think you need it to fit the 1.8s

1.8's will go?! Shazam!! :D Might as well go for 1.8 setup as logic tells me they will be better than 1.4 brakes?!

Rear beam is a possibility in time, but fronts are more what I'm interested in doing atm. I know again its kinda overkill considering it's only a 1.2 but I like to be reassured that I've got good brakes :)

1.8s will go. Dave A had SXi rims on his SRi

1.4s also go....

Best way to tell would be try one of your SXI wheels on a 1.8 SRI, if they go over without catching anywhere they go for the 1.8 setup. Maybe even get a rear beam and get rear discs, overkill mind but they look funky.

Right atm, I have a standard 2005 1.2 SXi setup for my brakes, but I'm just wondering whether it is possible to fit 1.4 or preferably 1.8 SRi brakes behind my standard wheels? Admitedly the standard brakes arent bad as they are (especially due to the lack of engine power!!) but its just an idea I'm toying with. Opinions?

btw - Looking at using Vaux brakes so that I can hopefully be sneaky with my warranty ;)
