Won't make a differance.

Change your plugs, leads and air flow meter. Maybe do them one at a time so you can eliminate each one as the problem.

If you are due an oil change then do so so. But its not connected.

I just got my car running right again after this problem - turned out it was my spark plug leads.

A mate of mine who used to work for vaux just sprayed some water on them (with a normal squirty bottle) where the lead goes into the engine and there was a spark coming from one of them.

Could be worth a try. If there are sparks jumping across the top of the plug then the leads need changing

I'd say air flow meter mate, could be wrong but it happens alot with these engines.

You might as well get some new plugs first.

My air flow meter packed up but the ecu light never came on. It coughed and spluttered off the lights like a kangaroo!

try doing an oil change? n check your air box see if anythings restricting it?like colin siad also check the condition of your spark plugs!

My car done this (x12sz) I changed everything plugs, leads, dis pack, injector . . . . . the list goes on.

turns out it woz the spark plugs.

Apparently the engines are very sensitive, the ngk plugs I put in seemed to cure it.

Although yours is the 16v might be a good starting point to try and diagnose the fault.

Management light on or not? At a guess i'd say Mass air flow meter, you know anyone else with the same car as you so you can swap one over a try one?

im no engine/car expert but it does feel as though the engine is being starved of something since there is a short period before any "action" (for want of a better word) begins

ricky1989

is the engine stuttering as if its being starved of something? or is the whole car stuttering?

Haimsey

posted on 23rd May 06 at 21:34

it revs fine, its just when i pull of there is like a delay before any sort of acceleration, even though the accelerator is pressed down

Wad_2002

hhhmmmm... could be a number of things.... check the stepper motor, feul pump, injector rail.. possible may be the air intake, is it revin fine when in netural any flat spots?
