You dont need o lower the compression ration unless your running big power, stock internalls are fine for 350bhp+

FMIC will make a difference but not a massive difference, i found mine made my car laggy as hell off boost.

Have you checked crank shaft position sensor or the coolant temp sensor? Im on my 2nd LET now and the CTS always go making it do very odd things. most result in jerking!

Im also using the walbro 255 external pump :)

I will have a look at piping and once i have ran in i will get the car to a rolling road and see what they think.

the only think i forget to mention is that i dont have an air filter yet? will this be causuing any problems?

cheers for all the help lads, much appreciated!

once is all running well will post some pics!

thanks again

if it starts jerking( ) when youre giving it, could be a boost pipe needs clips tightening, used to get this alot one specific join.

could this suggestion be the prob, that the engine simply dose'nt have adaquete compression. Would def explain the big loss of power.

Get it on a rolling road to check fueling e.t.c. to see if you have an faults!

There's no point in fitting a thicker head gasket unless you are winding up the boost presure. In fact your proberly losing power rite now rununing on std boost with low compression. The idea in lowering compression is that you can run with more boost, if you have'nt got increased boost your lossing power.

if it does not boost right try it with the first gear disconnected.is it jerking when cold or warm.

hi matty_corsa is my brothers user, so it is still me with the same problems at the top of the thread.

when we fitted the the engine the lad looped the first gear sensor, as he told me that it would make the car think its in first gear and run max boost all the time, is this wrong?

also....it does not idle very well, and whilst running ocassionaly is a bit jerky, eg when i am in a high gear and only very lightly pressing the throttle it starts to jerk, also when just idling it makes a poping noise through the exhaust, is this some kind of air leek?

sorry for a million questions, just got it back and it just dont seem to be as it should yet?

cheers

Right fuel pumps!

You can get an uprated internal one (I ran it for a while, ok for standard-ish power)

Externally you can use a standard LET pump, but be careful if your running much more than standard.

Best bet is the Walbro external pump available from Regal, which I run with no problems (got a fuel pressure guage so I can check lol)

what gearbox are you running? i had a problem with the F20 that the 1st gear sensor usually in the F28 was telling the ECU it was in 1st all the time cos it wasnt plugged in and limiting boost to 4psi and only 189bhp.

the front mount does make a difference.

the mods youve done wont increase or decrease power,if its not performing like it should give it a service if thats not the case, you may have turbo probs if it pulls the same as an xe:)

sorry in that first bit meant c20 xe

hi mate

I have only just got it back, but am not overly impressed with the speed. had a 2l 16v (c20 let) before only standard, and it felt load more aggressive!

i bought a standard c20 let, and have done the following:

all gaskets
steal 1.9mm head gasket
arp rod bold
big end bearings
samoco hosing
FMIC and custom piping

so mostly recondoining stuff

it just feels like its holding back, obviously have not driven it well hard but just was not overly impressed with what i have seen.

will it improve with time? it has been standing for quite a wheel, will i need to give it a blasting when its ran in to pollish bores up?

or has the steal head gasket had any effects? eg lowered compression

Ive got original 1.4 sport pump still on mine, though i reckon it could do with upgrading to handle all the power im now asking for. has been fine for 2yrs though.
