remove top cover, remove inlet (top half) remove battery and coolant tank. then you can get to it.

Is it hard to do??? do you have to get it from underneath or can you get it from the top?

carb cleaner is best as wd40 is an oil and will promote a build-up of dirt and grease.

there you go you can clean it out with some wd40 or carb cleaner either will do

Dave A

its a bastard of a job to do the idle air control valve isn't it!!! would that be the same as air control solenoid
my car is a x14xe

Dave A

x16xe uses a MAP sensor. the idle control valve isnt visible in that pic, its on the right hand side of the inlet manifold, actually fitted into the throttle body.

no airflow meter on an x16xe.

that could be it, on it there will be a part number, type that into ebay and search for it, or if not try google, if air mass meter turns up chances are you have got it, its a fairly simple to remove too, just unscrew the clips and relace with ya new one.

corsa kyle

it looks similar to that yes underneath the end of the induction pipe!! I didn't fit the induction kit it was on when i bought the car! Its doin me head in now tho!

Cheb

does it look like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-CORSA-air-flow-meter-sensor-MAF-0280-217-123_W0QQitemZ4598602016QQcategoryZ10404QQcmdZViewItem, although this may not be the one for ure engine, what engine is it?

Cheb

posted on 20th Jan 06 at 18:35

just had a closer inspection, and cant really see it, follow the pipe from your air filer to see if its there, you did'nt take it off when you installed the induction kit by any chance?

corsa kyle

posted on 20th Jan 06 at 18:32

is it just by the side of the inlet - its got a blue mark all round it???

Cheb

posted on 20th Jan 06 at 18:30

Yep, its the thing just after ure air filter, it has a cable plugged into the pipe and you will notice that section can be removed, thats the air sensor, had to replace mine on my derv, best place to get one from is ebay, but only get new from the original bosch ones.

Could someone point out to me were the 'Air Control Solenoid' and the 'Air Flow Meter' is?? I had a diagnostics test and the fault what come up was 'Air Control Solenoid' but i have asked around and people said that this is another name for it!!! Also is it also known as the 'Idle Air Control Valve' I need help unrgent cause it is so slow of the mark it has been called a 'death trap' by a mechanic! :(
