we have mot'd loads of cars mate and never had a problem with performance systems apart from when its a bodge job and its leaking every where,

id pass it if it wasnt too silly it sounds like this bloke dont no what he's doing you got to no when to turn a blind eye its same as testing a classic car

only went there cause my mate works there, thought he would have carried it out, gonna get good ol vaux to do it, they may not be cheap, but at least theyre reliable-ish

ask to see him test the loudness with a db metre, only way to test it. if he denies then go somewhere else mate cos he sounds like a class A knob :rolleyes:
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 23:42|
That tester sounds like a wanker harnesses cant fail
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 15:55|
my emissions are fine, got the print out, just failed on rear brakes, handbrake, bucket seat not being secure and him not thinking my harnesses are road safe, oh and him deciding its too loud because he says so

mines failed on ma old mk1 clio witha rage he tried to say it was wrong bore blah blah
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 14:30|
think he was just bein an arsehole, but it is a rage backbox and have heard bad things about them, dunno have asked vauxhall to have a look at it
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 14:13|
Mines passed twice with an aftermarket back box...
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 14:01|
that is surely garbage... mine went through with no centre box on... go figure how loud that is
||posted on 9th Dec 05 at 13:59|
mine failed today, asked him for a decibel test and he said it cant be louder than a standard corsa with a standard exhaust and it was at his discretion to pass or fail it, the fact he tested it inside annyoed me too, oh and my harnesses are marked e2 but he wont pass them

only fail on loudness if its louder than 98 db at a 45 degree angle about 5 inches away form exhaust. i should know, had to go get mine tested and was only just safe at an average of 97.9 :|

it cudent of been emissons, my mates failed on the loudness, as it wasent the same noise level as a standard exhaust system fitted to the same make of vehicle , or sumthing like that it said on the mot fail , lol
||posted on 8th Dec 05 at 20:07|
yup, sure it was emissions though? not loudness?
||posted on 8th Dec 05 at 19:50|
everything was standard appart from the backbox ... they made him buy a new standard exhaust then and their ... anyone think that something fishy is going on?
||posted on 8th Dec 05 at 18:29|
Never had an aftermarket exhaust affect emissions on any car. That is unless a decat was fitted!
||posted on 7th Dec 05 at 19:59|
mine got thro the MOT fine with my performance exhuast.shouldnt alter ya emissions much cause ur only changin the back box and not touchin the CAT.

i havent heard of this b4, however i have only had performance exhausts on ohter cars , never a corsa
||posted on 7th Dec 05 at 19:21|
not that im aware of, just needed to check if this is a big problem with many people as i have just ordered a £200 scorpion exhaust and the MOT is due in a few months!
||posted on 7th Dec 05 at 19:19|
they werent shoving cloths in to keep the probe in were they?
||posted on 7th Dec 05 at 19:17|
so far two of my mates have had an MOT and had to have their aftermarket exhausts taken off, they failed on emissions tests. I was under the impression that just putting a backbox on wouldn't really effect the emmisions? this happend to anyone else?
