shorter rod would make the piston drop lower in the bore on the down stroke, but wouldnt get as close to the head on the upward stroke, so compression ratio would be lower, as the volume of the space when the piston is TDC is bigger

No because the piston is still able to move to the fully upper most position at the top of the bore. The engine code for the 2.2 engine is X22XE so it uses the same compression ratio of 10.0-11.5 : 1...

you would loose some compression yeah?

2.2 conrods too... I think I saw somewhere in the US that manufactured them :!

Think you need the 2.2 con-rods too acutally which are proably a bit shorter... Basically you are making the piston move down furthter into the bore.

but when the piston gets to TDC would it not be sticking to high... and clattering the valves? interest concept though...

To change the stroke on an XE you can put on a 2.2 Ecotec crankshaft, that will increase the displacement to something like 2198cc, could then bore out the block to get it to about 2250-2300cc at a guess... Don't think changind the con-rods would do anything usefull though.

what affect does doing this have anyways?

If you put shorter ones in, would you get low compression?

i think you'd want to alter the crank....

What difference would you get in putting: i mean longer than standard and then shorter than standard? |
