i've messed about with a few bits..... 1.7td into a cally t and nova 1.5td into a corsa 1.5td....

i think with a whole cav td and whole combo 1.7d the conversion would be easy...

scott.... i've got rotten cav td ;)

vauxhall dont make a 1.5TD combo, they only make 1.4 petrol and 1.7D, but there is a few 1.7TD ones knocking about, these where made for the post office/royal mail but vauxhall stoped making them because they were quicker that a GSI (standard)

thinking of putting the cav engine in my van sometime next year.

also after a 1.4 combo van S reg or newer if anyone knows one for sale

so it all bolts straight up?with a few custom hoses

i think my bro is going too use them on his corsa td, sorry.

well the 1.7d manifold& turbo is a direct swap apart from teh piping, the 1.5 d inlet is a direct swap, although the inlet is where the airfilter joins on the td, ie the other side, however if you are having too make hoses for teh 1.7 turbo and fmic anyway then you may aswell use that inlet. it will also make the engine bay more tidy as that side of the engien wont have anything as you put the filter onto the turbo.

ok. how does it all connect toghether?

i need a turbo diesel manual
you say you have all the parts? kris. would you part with them?

Kris TD

the 1.5 d inlet manifold is a lot bigger than the td one

sold :d
always a fan of a stronger block :D

right so
i need a 1.5td corsa combi
fit a 1.7 turbo
a fmic
1.7td injectors
hoses and airfilter

why would i need a 1.5d inlet manifold?

Kris TD

posted on 2nd Dec 04 at 13:19

you would get pretty much the same bhp but also remember the block is stronger on the 1.5

Adam-D

posted on 2nd Dec 04 at 06:53

and what if i do 1.5td with 1.7td turbo, injectors, i use a 1.5d manifold??

what gains are there to this than a 1.7td, apart from cheap tax

Kris TD

should do yes, no difficult wiring as its all mechanical.

so if i got a corsa combi van 1.7d
and a cav 1.7td and mixed and matched it all add a few hoeses and intercoler itd work?

Kris TD

posted on 1st Dec 04 at 13:20

oh, you will also need the engine mounts from the 1.5td/1.7 d engine and use them on teh 1.7 td.

Kris TD

posted on 1st Dec 04 at 13:19

1. you will need a 1.7 td engine, dont bother trying too convert a 1.7d into a turbo.
2. you will need some custom turbo hoses as the 1.7 turbo is mounted the other way up too the 1.5.
3. you will need an intercooler so may aswell do at same time as the custom hoses
4. you will need the flywheel and box from the corsa/combo or the box and fly from the 1.7 and the 2l 16v driveshafts and gearbox mount.

personally if you use a corsa keep the 1.5 td engine, use the 1.7 turbo, fmic, 1.5 d inlet manifold, custom hoses, cone filter, turbo bk zoorst and 1.7 td injectors.
i was going too do this too mine, i had all the parts apart from the 1.5d inlet manifold
