If the oil temp is too high it will vapourise in the turbo leaving very hot metal parts on each other.

or if u have a turbo oil temp and an engine oil temp gauge, then leave the car running until the turbo temp goes down to the same temp as the oil gauge reads

quote: The turbo relies on a thin 'cushion' of oil for its lubrication while it is spinning (well lubrication of the axle thing that joins the 2 wheels). If you have been boosting then come to a stand still and shut the engine off, the turbo is left spinning with a supply of oil being pumped in. This causes increased wear and tear on the turbo and its components. However, i'd rather save the money and so i take it easy for the last 5-7 mins of a drive. Matt

why not jus take it easy when you know you're gonna be parking up? (Not boost for 5 mins on way home or sommet?) Rather than spending money on a Timer

a turbo timer allows you to take the key out of the ignition and to lock the doors while the engine is still running to allow the turbo to cool down. after a set time the timer will cut off and turn the engine off.

As above, what does it do and is it worth getting one? |
