I thought Griffin but for the same price ACE will use stronger Driveshafts from the fitting kit AND stronger 2.0l C.V's, the ONLY downer being its a breakers yard but if anywhere knows about vauxhalls it would be a vauxhall only breakers yard and PLENTY of stock for them to use ;)

Also the fact that the guy at ACE sat down and talked to me over the phone for a good 20mins talking through the operation wheras the guy at Griffin didnt want to tell me anything and wanted me off his phoneline ASAP!

I say ACE but take the car in with seat covers and perhaps some protective sticky sheet over the wings etc

Hmmm, some good options there, cheers TOMAS

Griffin Performance one sounds good.

Ive looked around at doing this

Griffin Performance near Birmingham charge £1400/£1500 drive-in/out. They use your existing driveshafts+C.V's though and you'll have to supply them with a power cap (£100)

Ace Vauxhall Parts in Stoke on Trent ( http://acevauxhallparts.co.uk )wanted to charge me approx £900 to supply and fit redtop lump with F20 box, loom, ecu and Astra/Cav CV joints. I would have to supply them with a conversion kit (£580 from cossvaux with the extra bodywork mount) and they would want a set of wheel bearings (£80 RRP from Vaux).

this is why i am getting my conversion done this weekend with beardy if all goes to plan. Well, taking it up this weekend and getting it back next weekend. Again, £1500 drive in drive out, excluding the suspension.

Yeh thats why i may not bother fixing my 14XE and just stick a C20XE in instead. Its all down to how much mine is going to cost to fix.

Oh yeh and insurance :lol::o

yeah well dont m,ake the mistake i did, i decided to swap me engine i had a fooked C16XE so put a good C16XE in, it turned out to be a bad engine, instead of biting the bullet and chucking a C20XE in i decided to fix the engine i had, trust me the C20XE would have been about the same price as fixing mine, i have a few regrets

Cool, i am keeping my options wide open at the moment.

well they make an allowance for about £500 for the engine, thats the going rate me thinks

Nath

What are the prices if I sourced the engine?

Nath

 as much as i would want a turbo an XE is more than enough. Might not even need an XE if mine doesnt cost too much to fix.

lee mitchell is your best bet, last time i spoke to him he charges 1500 all in, usually takes him a week and he wants around 2 weeks notice....someone correct me if im wrong

Surely the answers would vary depending on the availability of engines at that time?

How much would it cost for you to supply and fit an XE 2litre 16v? I already have the suspension and brakes.

Also how long does the fitting process take?

How much notice do you require prior to fitting?

Basically my 1.4 16v is knackered so i'm looking into upgrading to a 2 litre if it works out too much money to sort the 1.4 16v.

u2u me if you like

Thanks,
Nath
