Early GSI's ran an airflow meter so the ECU will be diferent to the sports which don't.

Cheers for the help guys. I might just have to stop being a pikey and looking for stuff second hand. Unless anyone knows of anybody selling a Chipped ECU for a 1.4 16v Sport and a mantzel box or velos torque tube for a 1.416v?

the ECU wont effect it, surely, the part you replace are mechanical parts not electrical im sure, if the GSI is totally different to the Sport how come i got a X16XE inlet manfold, they produced the kit for the sport then to fit it to the GSI they just made some blanking plates for the egr stuff and sold them with the sport inlet????? i maybe missing something real obvious i dunno????

Lol. They said that the GSI engine was totally different to the sport engine and had a totally different and complex manifold. They also said that the ECU was incompatible and different to the sport ones.:boggle: Confused

OH ONE THING WITH COURTNEY SPORT, they advertised in TV about fitting their Mantzel kit and said they never once had a problem, no ones ever had to phone up, well i ordered mine shortly after, and had to call them 3-4 times cos they didnt send the right parts, i am still 2 or 3 bit missin but just made do, I also asked them a question about fittin and way suprised when i started telling them things they didnt know about my engine!!!!

they would say that!!!! i cartn see how it wouldnt be compatable, my engine is a C16XE and my mantzel kit is exactly the same as the X16XE kit, the only extra things were i had to change my inlet manifold to the same one on the X16XE and plug a few holes with blaking plates, that dont seem right to me, maybe wrong

so ya got a superchip, then i dont see a problem what so ever, I would say it would be a straight swap on to your motor, i fitted one of these to my motor so know what s involved, if anything is different it will cost feck all to get the bits ya need, i got a spare GSI throttle bodie aswell if its needed

The ecu is already chipped mate, do you mean get a new chip?

nah it will adjust itself, its the same bit or kit for both, its nothing complicated it simple, if ya d get it it is worht getting a chip cos ya engine will still wanna pull at 7000RPM+

I was thinking though the ECU wouldnt it be programmed to inject more fuel etc cos the 1.6 16v is a bigger engine?

At a guess i woul say yes, all i can think that would be different is the throttle bodie, but its probably the same
