So your power loss was cos you had a big hole in your exhast quite high up?

MOB

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 23:03

not sure wot it is but some sensor somewhere, fumes from my CAT had fecked the sensor up so might b the one in the manifold i was thinkin?

MikeH

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 22:54

Sensor just above the cat? is that the EGR valve?

MOB

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 22:52

o yea mine is a 1.0 12v

MOB

had a similar problem, check that the CAT ain't cracked and blowing and check the sensor just above CAT its just cost me a small fortune to repair, 3 days work at local garage!

car was practically undriveable as the light came on and power just went lost all acceleration in the end!

MikeH

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 22:47

Right, i've been told the ecu for the 1.0 12v and 1.2 16v is a motronic 1.5.5 and is different to all the other ones. It has no L line on the diagnostic plug and only a K line.

The metal contacts are all in different places!

The light isn't on all the time but now and again.... there is definately a performance loss when it comes on, it stops accelerating!!!

If you dont have the pin the tech 2 wont be able to connect. If you look under it you will see if there is a wire going into the connector. You can just connect the wires.

My money is on you trying the wrong place!

Does the car go alright just have the light on? Could well be egr related if no performance change.

well thats weird...maybe thats coz ur tryin the wrong hole?

try pushin the paper clip further down it then just in case the metal contact bit broke!

but if ur right and it has broke, then if u go to vaux and try to plug it in their diagnostic machine then it may not work, and at least u know u were right and vaux shouldnt charge u.

MikeH

ok i tried the paperclip test but one of the pins your supposed to bridge has no metal contact in it!

y cant u use the paper clip test? i assume uv tried? :boggle: maybe u were puttin the paperclip in the wrong pin holes? :boggle:

i think its £34 at vaux for a read out, well it is at my local one....but i use the paper clip :)

erm the ecu light flashed on and off when my throttle position sensor (think it was called that) went, it eventualy stayed on all the time

MikeH

How much am i likely to be ripped off for to get vauxhall to diagnose it?

Gavin

hmmmmmmmmm......... usually the ecu shows sumthing wrong with the air flow.... but u sed it cant be that!!!! :boggle:

the engine managerment light (esp. on mine) is weird.... it comes on and off when eva it feels like it :(

MikeH

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 21:07

not the airflow meter, checked it.

BabyBlade

posted on 19th Feb 04 at 21:06

hmm full throttle?

maybe air flow or fuel sensors gone?

maybe loose sensor in engine bay or that one on the exhaust manifold which i can never remember!!!

just guessing like....

Drove to B&Q just now and the engine management light came on twice :(

Only when on full throttle, but not every time.

Can't use paperclip as my ecu is weird....

I feel a trip to vauxhall ... but how much is that gonna cost?

Any ideas on the cause if its only on full throttle?
