I remember seeing a fair while back a Corsa that used Subaru running gear. It was used for rallying though, I'll see if I can find it again.

Bats corsa is FWD
4x4 corsa are few and far between

reg for the 2lt turbo 4x4 corsa is DAZ 2995

there are a few other 4x4 corsa but i only know of 1 maybe 2 road ones

It is possible to do, but involves a lot of time to make parts, fit them, remove them, modifiy them then refit them etc.

wow when you put it like that it sounds so simple :lol::lol:

thats been done already but like its not really practical for going down the shops for a lof of bread now is it?

ive seen a RWD nova with a ford 2.0 pinto engine. But it was a hot rod up at the local sunday races

id say he cut half the floor away inside and i could deffo see that the bulhead had been completey gutted out and his own structure was put in

the engine was in the front and bugger me it did half shift! nobody could catch it!

Get 2 engines! :D :D One in the back, one in the front. Front engine drives front wheels, and rear engine drives the rears! :D :D Like the VR6 Golf and the Nova that Max Power has had recently. :D :D Fcukin' ballistic! 0-100km/h (0-62mp/h) in 4 seconds or something batshiitt like that!

would be much better to use the 2.0 Turbo or 2.o 16v on TBs than a 3.0 v6, there just to heavy and dont produce enough power for there size, also the other 2 engines are cheeper to increase power

but i agree that a rear/mid-mounted rwd seems easier than a 4x4

Sethion I dont think the cally is solid rear axle i believe its independant rear suspension.
Also you need a tunnel for the propshaft to go through.
Which therefore requires relocating exhaust and fuel tanks.
I believe you also have to mount the steering rack higher up.

which brings u back to neading the whole floor pan

now you mention yes the engine could be the other way around??

still think chopping the corsa mounting brackets off the corsa beam and onto the 4x4 rear diff is the way forward ;)

Siberia

Rear diff?

is the engine in a caibra turned the oposite way to a corsa?

u need to mount a drive shaft fron front to back?

i'm not to sure how the calibra is layed out

just thinking its sumthing like a sierra cosworth underneath?

ewwwww this is just messy!

right i dont know much but here goes my interpretation :D

First off obviously use the f28 gearbox.

use the c20let (2.0 turbo) as they're used with those gearboxe's.

the c20let conversion into the corsa is 3k correct?

instead of doing the floorpan (which i think is the correct way but i'm being controversial ) wouldn't it be possible to cut the mounting plates off the corsa rear beam and replace the mounting brackets off the 4x4 back axle and bolt it on?

dont they do this with rear disc conversions i read somewhere?

then all you need is a shortened prop shaft.

can see the whole conversion being done under 4k and tbh think it would be a pretty mental corsa!!

not quite sure what i'm on about with the rear beam but a bit of choppin n welding n your there

If your going to pay £2k for a xe conversion then your not the sort of person to do this yourself!

£2k for a cally/cav turbo, sell the engine (£1k), or use it in the corsa. Weld chop out the corsa floor pan and replace with cav/cally. Lots of fabrication needed to underside of car. Custom or modded rear shafts and prop shaft. The cav/cally box (f28), tbx and rest of 4x4 set up.

Could be done fairly cheaply if you can do it yourself.

Doesn't sound hard, in reality getting the geometry totally spot on will be a nightmare.

Once you have the floor pan and 4x4 system installed, the fuel tank, exhaust etc will be childsplay.

alright boss, yea its possible but alot of work involved. Ive thought about doing it, someone is doing it (do a search for a posty made by me about 3months ago) and someone else was looking at doing it :)
Thing is, it wouldnt be worth it if you had a shity little engine, so a 2lt would have to be done. Then you would have to weld on the back end of a 4x4 cally floorpan to the back end of the corsa (so you would have to strip the thing etc). Then you would have to remove fuel tanks and place them in the back and re-route the exhaust (someone said to me about leaving the backseats out and getting the exhaust to go inside the car behind the handbrake and out through the back, like bumper or even boot lid etc). Also the back axles need shorting if you take them from a cally (i think).

So yea its possible and you would need about 5 grand maybe..ish...well 2lt convertion will set ya back about 2 grand, done and fitted. need a donnar 4x4 cally, around 700-1000 quid (amybe more for a decent nick one), then all of the labour to get someone to do it. Obviously if you do it yourself, if will be cheaper.

would be sweet if one was made :D but i dont think anyone is up for the hassle of doing it :(

Depends how much you can do yourself.

does anybody know how much roughly it would cost to build a 4wd corsa from scratch ?

thanks
