You can't base it all that loosely carbs are as good as injectors if set up correctly the main reason fuel injection was used was for economy and a more reliable delivery of fuel. But how any one can say carbs are poo is beyond me because all a SPI system is is basically an electronically controlled carburettor so they each have there own merits so its up to you which one u would use twin carbs or Tb's

so what once u put them in, u got tune them up 2 get da best out them?

carbs can be tuned easyer then injection ie fit bigger carbs more fuel air more power
downside is that they are less relaible than injection --hot starting etc
but as with everythiing there a + and - to evrything

I imagine you would be able to gain aperformance gain by using carbs as they are more easily tuneable than an ecu.

You may gain some horsepower but you will loose allot of fuel economy.

The primary reason motor manufactureers switched to injectors was to gain eceonomy. There were other reasons but this was the main one.

*our 3.5litre v8 rover sd1 with twin carbs certainly didn;t get many miles to the gallon... but that isn't a fair comparison :P *

Hi Sach, if it's just a single carb. i.e std then he's talking poo. Injection is better, else why would all car manufacteurs move to it?

Carb's are the old mechanical method for mixing the air/fuel together.
They only offer a perf gain if you move to twins, this is like Throttle bodies but with out the injectors. It give you pretty much the same top end as TB's but fuel economy is non-existant and the midrange isn't as good.

carbs have pro's and cons just like air filters etc etc:thumbs:

in the olden days u didnt have a ecu .. u used to set evrything up acording to the carb...<<<------ not 100% on it tho so if i am wrong sum1 correct me:thumbs:
