changing the head is only 3 spanners ion the haynes manual, any monkey can do it. | |

agreed, the head just a case of unbolting the head bolts, removing the cam-cover on the left of engine, removing exhaust & inlet manifolds & sliding head off - most it ever took me was about an hour cos I had a bacon butty & cup'o'tea. | |

How can you have major problems taking the head off? You just unbolt it and lift it off! | |

I wouldnt neccesarily get a vauxhall headgasket no point. | |

if that engine is an OHC ... armed with a haynes an ALL THE RIGHT PARTS it should be easy enough. | |

I would say its dear. 4 hours work, £100 tops parts. Then about £70-80 or whatever a service is. | |

ive jus got got al that work done jus now inlcudeing a service. the mechanic said it should be £500/600, is that about right? | |

I am afraid my head gasket has gone. I have searched the forum and it seems to be a fairly easy (but long) work for the 1.4 8V. I have never done it before, so here it goes my silly question: |
