Book time for a corsa is 1hr but yeah takes about half an hour.

I was told it would cost about £40 or £50 by the garage so told them to go ahead, and i had a bill for £128 this morning!!! How much are heater matrices new from vaux (asuming they used the most expensive part)? I know for a fact it took them about 20 minutes to change it, cos the guy that did it told me!

Kerry

i have a feeling its the actual blowers though :(

yeah u can check it for airlocks first, jsut run the car with the cap off till it boils over

but its essential the heaters are set to max heat as this controls the flow of water into the matrix.

good way of checking for an airlock is if you get a bit of heat at the beginning of your journey but once the car heats up (thermostat opens, water allowed to circulate) you then get cold air.

do i flush it like drunkenfool said?

Gambit

Kerry, flushing it first make sure the heater is set to max heat before flushing it

if that dont work, take it apart and reverse flush it

I tried to unblock it by running the engine with the cap on the expansion tank left off until it boiled over, then topped it back up, but that didnt work. The guy in the garage also tried putting a hose on one of the pipes on the existing one to see if he could clear it, but it wouldnt budge, so i got a new heater matrix. Cost about £40 including parts and labour, and now i can see out of the front window, so £ well spent!

sounds exactely same as mine

used to work every now and then but packed in completely........ :(

guess il have to price a matrix up :!:!:!

Ya can see it in this pic of AK's 'Bucket'

its the thing in the middle which lookes like an panel-filter for an air box with 2 pipes coming out of it.

Its like a miniature radiator situated at the bottom of the centre console. Air blows through it to give you warm air for demisting etc. Uses the same water as the main radiator!

yeah apart from the ones with air conditioning as these have the airconditioning button on the temperature dial like the heated rear screen is on the blower control
